Raphael Fenski, former P&E student, will be doing a 1000km bike ride from Kingston (Ontario) to Washington DC, starting today, on Monday the 4th of December. He will share daily updates on this instagram account: @raceagainstthecold . With the "Race Against the Cold" he wants to raise awareness for youth homelessness and collect donations for the Kingston Youth Shelter - to help the ones who are most affected by the cold.
Youth make up the fastest-growing population of homeless people in Canada, they account for one in five of the people living in homeless shelters.
The Kingston Youth Shelter provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and family support for homeless youth ages 16-24 in Kingston. The donations moves young people out of poverty, and stabilizes their housing, food, and financial security.
